Money Saving Tips for Homeschool

Welcome to Thrifty Ways to Homeschool
Homeschooling doesn't have to be expensive. I homeschooled my children for about $100.00 a year per child.
I have done research online to find the best places to get the information for worksheets, and tests, that all it really ends up costing you is paper and ink. That is a deal.
I bought my books from ebay, half.com, found them at yardsales, Goodwill stores, and other Thrift stores. You can find alot of good supplies there also for arts and crafts.
The Internet is a great place to find many things that you need to homeschool. It's a wealth of resources. They have online tests, online worksheets to print, and even schedules that you can follow to subjects.
After the Internet the next best place to find things is the Library. Taking a child to the Library opens up many avenues for them. They will get lost in books. And going weekly will give them many books that they will want to read. They also have all the reference material that you need for them to do projects.
Believe it or not I also use Television to teach. The History Channel, Discovery Channel, and PBS. All of these places have great learning shows for all age groups.
What you will want to do call your local school if your child is near driving age. Most states have it that the school must teach driver's education to all students. So even if you home school your child can still take driver's education for free.
Look around your city and town, and use the internet to your advantage, print the things that you need offline, there are plenty of material online that you can use that will save you money and make your child learn more than if they were in regular school and classrooms.
With all these resources online you can homeschool without spending a bundle, and still have your child learn more than if they were in public school. Homeschooling can be a rewarding experience for the child as well as for you.

Buying Used Books Online
You don't have to have brand new books to teach your children at home. Shop online for discounts on books and learning material. You will have to have books to teach your children, but the rest of the stuff I would suggest printing out for free online.
Look for used books at Craigslist, ebay, amazon and other homeschool websites that offer classified places.
You can find the used books for 60-75% off most of the time and will be able to cut back your costs for homeschooling by doing that. This is one great way to cut back with expenses.
The easiest way to figure out what books you need, and will be able to save the most money on the books is to write down what you need, and get a set price of what you want to spend for it, then start looking for them. You will eventually find the book at the price that you want. This is why you want to plan ahead of time and start looking a few weeks or months before you actually need them.

Great ideas! As a homeschooling mom I am always trying to stick to a budget. I have spent as little as $100 per child to $300 per child.
